How to use the app

Up and running
in minutes

1
Download and create your account

Download Rugby Matchmaker from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app and tap "Create account". Enter your email address and choose a password. Verify your email when prompted.

2
Register your club

Enter your club name and location. This sets your base for distance matching. You'll be the club administrator — you can add other admins later from the Club Profile screen.

3
Add your teams

Add each team separately — 1st XV, 2nds, 3rds, Ladies 1sts, and so on. For each team set the gender, age group, and competitive level. This is what determines who you get matched with.

4
Broadcast a fixture request

Tap "Find a match" on the dashboard. Select the team and the date you need a fixture. Set your preferred distance range. Tap the broadcast button — your request goes to every matching club instantly.

5
Manage responses

Interested clubs will appear in your Messages inbox. Tap any conversation to chat directly. Agree details, confirm the fixture, and it drops automatically into your Season Planner.

6
Confirm your match

Once you've agreed a fixture with a club, confirm it in the app. This marks the fixture as confirmed for both clubs and closes out the other broadcast responses for that date automatically.

7
View your season planner

The Season Planner shows all your confirmed fixtures. It auto-scrolls to today's date. Tap any fixture to go straight to that conversation. Past dates are hidden by default but can be expanded.

8
Update your club profile

Keep your club details current from the Club Profile screen. You can update your logo, contact details, and team information at any time. The Help link on this page is also in your Club Profile.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions

Rugby Matchmaker is completely free for all founding clubs until January 2027. We'll share pricing plans well in advance of any changes — and founding clubs will always get the best deal.
Select your team and the date you need a fixture. Press one button and your request is broadcast to every registered club that matches your level and is within your chosen distance. Interested clubs respond directly and you manage the conversations from your Messages inbox.
We're launching with clubs across England, Scotland, and Wales. The app is most useful the more clubs that are on it — so get your local rivals signed up too.
Rugby Matchmaker supports men's, women's, and mixed teams across all age groups following RFU age band rules — from seniors down through minis. Each team in your club can be registered separately with its own level and preferences.
Yes. You can add as many teams as your club runs, each with their own level, age group, and gender category. Each team broadcasts independently so your 1sts and 3rds won't get each other's responses.
If your club is already on Rugby Matchmaker, don't create a new club account — you'll end up with duplicates. Instead, download the app, tap "Register", and on the registration screen tap "Your club may already be registered — tap to check". Search for your club and tap Request to join. Your club admin will approve you and you'll be added to the existing club account.
Not directly yet — invite links are coming in a future update. For now, ask your teammates to download the app and use the "Join a club" option to find your club and send a join request. As club admin you'll get a notification and can approve them from your Club Profile page.
Rugby Matchmaker is a platform to connect clubs. The responsibility for honouring, confirming, and fulfilling any fixture rests entirely with the clubs involved. We make the introduction — the game is down to you.
Once you've agreed a fixture with a club in the chat, confirm it in the app. It drops into both clubs' Season Planners and the other broadcast responses for that date are automatically closed out.
The ability to edit and delete sent messages is coming in a future update. For now, you can send a follow-up message to correct anything.
On the login screen, tap "Forgot password". Enter your email address and we'll send you a reset link. Check your junk folder if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes.
Go to your dashboard and tap "Club admin" — this takes you to your Club Profile where you can update your club name, logo, location, and team details at any time.
